You can use a CD, but it depends on the amount of data you want to put on it. A CD-R typically will hold around 700 MB, while a DVD-R can hold about 4.7 GB. But either can hold some picture files (movie files would have to be of a very short duration for a CD-R to hold them).

Now depending on what burning software you use, you should be able to simply drag and drop your files onto the CD. Another thing which will matter is what format the Movie files are in. If you have DiVX movie files and no DiVX codecs, you wont be able to see what you burned. Capice?

I would recommend NERO for starters. It's inexpensive and does a good job. It will burn either DVDs or CDs, you just have to pick "Make Data Disk", or whatever the software you do pick calls it. It should be in "DATA" form, as opposed to trying to make a CD-Video or something similar. What you DONT want is for the program to start "converting" anything into another format. If it starts doing that, Cancel and try again.

Good luck!

cd-r will work fine. just create a data disk, depending on whatever software you are using, and simply drag and drop. you can access it later just like a floppy disc. not need for a DVD-r unless you got A LOT of pics and movies.

any CD will work.
You want to make a DATA disk for pics and vids.
What ever your burn program is, choose DATA disk and enter the files or folders you want. Burn! that's it.

send me a message if you have any questions and tell me what burn program you are using.

You will need a DVD R/RW...for pictures and movies
A CD R/RW is just for music.
