Have you tried Proactive at all? I have always had minor acne for my whole life...not so bad that I saw a derm about it (too much money for a minor problem) but it has always bothered me. Proactive worked really well right from the beginning. I ran out and figured I would try the Walmart equivalent of Proactive with is called Acne Free...I really don't like it and it makes my skin hurt...dry yet oily. I also read that zinc is supposed to help...you can buy it at Walmart in tablet form and it is really inexpensive. I take this fairly regularly but probably not often enough as it makes me feel a little nauseous. If you haven't tried Proactive you should. I really like it and it cleared my skin up. The test with my skin has always been how long something will work. Anything can work for a few weeks but then I start breaking out again...I didn't with Proactive...and I need to start using it again. It is a relatively inexpensive option compared to the surgery and dermatoligist appointments that you are asking about and it probably wouldn't hurt to try.

Hi,
I came across your question and felt an urge to reply. Many of the users have advised you to use Proactive, and having used ProActive, I must advise you not to do so for the well-being of your skin. From my research, and experiences I conclude that Proactive yields momentary results but scars and harms your skin from the long term perspective.
I would recommend that you go to a Certified Skin Analyst, who can provide you with a PERSONALIZED ASSESSMENT of your skin and recommend what you should use. Personally, I suffered for years in trying to find a best way to treat acne. However, I found a solution to treat my acne and scars through an affordable treatment. It is phenomenal, it has not only helped my face but also helped my confidence. If you want more information about it, you can feel free to contact me through email at divinemystery23@yahoo.com. Thanks and Have a terrific day!

I know it sounds cliche, but eating balanced is very beneficial! Eating a lot of fruits (esp. citrus like oranges and such) helps! Water is very essential to keeping the skin clear! Your amount of stress is a HUGE factor in acne. The higher your stress leve, the more acne you'll get. Excersing also really helps because it reduces your stress level and helps everything circulate more. You could do slow walking around you block, jogging, or speed walking, or whatever you desire. It doesn't have to be a whole work out. But make sure you drink lots of water! Sleep is also really essential. Make sure you get plenty of sleep/rest. It helps reduce stress level as well and just let's the body do it's normal routine. Also, change your sheets and/or pillow cases often. The excess oil and bacteria from your hair and face resides in the fabric. Wash your face every night before bed. It doesn't even have to be with an acne cleanser. Just with soap and water. It really does help! Also, reducing your stress level in some way is the most imporant thing because if you're less stressed, you'll have more energy and willpower to DO things like washing your face nightly, eating healthy, exercising AND... you'll be able to sleep better! :) Basically... just stay healthy and things will work out! :)

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

I have suffered acne so much as many of you have had.
I had tried everything such as pills, crème, lotion, those are made by brand name companies, but I was so stressed because they didn’t work.
One day, I knew aloe is good to treating acne, and one of my Korean friends told me of a product called Aloe Enne from Namyang Aloe.
I tried it several weeks, and I am so pleased about the result.
After cleaning up my face, I put it on my face, and it feels like my skin gets much moist and healthier. I think aloe really works.
So I hope you have the good skin too.

My sisters use Pro Acne Solution or proactiv they get it at Walmart! It works really good! They both work really good! You can get a special cream that stops blackheads too with it! You can also go to a Doctor's office and get a presciption!

Proactive Solution really helped me clear my skin up and prevents acne too. Plus you can buy additional creams to lessen scar tissue.

I agree with some of the others try Pro Active (differin didn't do anything for me) And off the Bad carbs and/or refined sugars. More studies are coming out saying it's not really a certain item that gives you pimples(like chocolate) but more like the way things are actually broke down in your system that doesn't help !

preventing and treating acne are basically the same thing. if you use it every day, it should heal your acne and keep your skin clear......i dont get what you mean by preventing it, its kind of the same thing. ohhh you mean treating blackheads? tryy.....retin-a prescribed by dermatologists, it helps lessen pores and clean them, which is how acne forms (from pores)
