I love them both but i´d rather prefer a dog because they´re more playful but if u have really small space or hardly no time for ur dog its better a cat that doesn´tgive u much problem and is more intelligent but dogs r loyal and show u more love the cons of a dog is that they need more space and more attention to avoid them from destoying and the cons of cats is that they get furious when u carry them so dogs r better for kids well i think thats all

I would rather have a dog because cats are just so boring. With dogs you can train it to do tricks, you can even play with the dogs and like the old saying goes "dogs is man's best friend"

I think it depends on how much free time you have because to have a dog you need to be capable of walking it etc,if you are a social person who is often out & about or prefer doing your own thing e.g shopping then a cat is for you, they are capable of going in & out when they please but can also show affection.Dogs need a lot more of your time and although cats vetinary bills arent cheap, dogs you often find are much more expensive,so if your looking for a more laid back animal - go with the cat,If you want a companion more than a pet - go with the dog.

I'm a breeder of bengal cats. So I've got the best of both worlds; some of our cats fetch; some can walk on a lead (especially our stud boy), they all know to come when called, etc.. But this is why I choose cats over dogs.

Dogs jump up on you when you come in the house, and if it's a larger dog, near shove you over. Cats just rub against your legs to let you know they're glad you're home.
Dogs are noisy. Even little dogs, they yip, yip, yip, and it drives a person mad. Cats have a much quieter (most of the time) way of comunitcating with us, and it's so much cuter. "Meaow."
Dogs need to go out for a walk, or at least to the toilet, at least three times a day. Cats, they use a box, so you don't have to take them outside on a lead unless you want to; they're content to just stay indoors.
Dogs are messy. They get into the garbage, roll in god-knows-what, stink when they're wet, shed everywhere. Cats, the only thing they do out of that list is shed. And some cats don't even do that; our bengal cats, very very minimally, you never really find a hair on your clothes.
Dogs take up most of the bed. Even when I was younger and we had a little italian greyhound, he still found a way to take up 3/4 of the bed. Cats, they lay agaisnt your knees, or your feet, just keep your warm but allow you the space you need.
Dogs are high maintinance. They need trained; they need toys to play with you with, they need your constant attention; otherwise they can start to wreck the house. Cats, although they like toys, and definatly like the attention, too; they can amuse themselves if need be, and don't resort to chewing up your shoe just because you had to change the baby's nappy any you aren't playing with the pup at that individual second.
Dogs need constant reassurance that they're doing right. "good boy, good dog, etc., over the efact that it's sat for the millionth time when it's been told to. A cat is confident in itself. If you train it, the cat does the trick not for the sake of being told it's been good, but for the sake of either a food reward or a sit-in-the-lap session afterwards, or in the case of our stud bengal, for the sake that he knows he'll get evryone else's attention (such as when we take him for a walk), too, and he loves the attention.
So though I like dogs, too; the cat is the animal for me, thanks.

I have both and enjoy each for different reasons. My dog and I enjoy going to the dog park, for walks and on vacation. My cats are very loveable and require a lot less work then the dog. All my pets are pampered pets.

i like both but right now we have a cat. cat's are easier to take care of. you don't have to exercise them all the time. but dogs are good if you enjoy walking and running because they can go with you. Cats and dogs are all great.

Dog.

Mainly because I'm allergic to cats. But also because I would rather have an animal from whom devotion is freely given and respect is earned, instead of an animal from whom devotion is rarely given and respect is simply not an option.

"Dogs have owners. Cats have staff." ;)

(PS This post wasn't meant to tick anyone off. If I wasn't allergic, I'd get a cat, too. But if I had to *choose*...)

Dog!!!!....
Im allergic to cats. Plus cats seem less hygenic.
Cats scratch in their litter box and then walk all over your house. EWWWWW....My sister's cat is always spraying on her carpet. YUCK! They bring you nasty presents like dead rodents. RETCH! Cats are good on a farm though...I think they're happier too...run around catch critters, pee where they want, get cuddles from their owners when desired

Cats! They are a lot more independent then dogs. I have one her name is Rubee. I don't have to worry about having someone else take her out if I'm going to be gone a while, also most of them are smaller and more snugly!
