Anywhere from ages 9-15.

Different girls start at different times. When I was eleven, my doctor said that that was becoming the most common age for girls to start their periods, but mine didn't start until I was thirteen. That age has started to get younger and younger as medical advances allow for healthier girls. It could start anywhere from 9-14.

As to what happens when you have it, well, not much to tell, there. You see blood in your underwear (sometimes it looks brown, because not all of it IS blood), and you get cramps. These cramps can range from mild discomfort to complete agony, and everything in between. I get mine on my first day, and then after that they go away, although I know girls whose cramps last the entire time they're menstruating. I even know girls whose cramps appear a week before, and then go away after they start. Everyone is different, and your cycle will be very irregular the first few times.

So, there you have it. Periods in a nutshell.

between 9 and 16. I was 11. Check your family history. Whenever your mom or grandma started might give you a hint as to when you'll start. You know you start when you see a little bit (or a lot) of blood for 2 days to a week. Then prepare for it to happen every month for the next 40 years.

Ask your mother this question or an adult female that you trust and feel comfortable with.

The things that are happening and will happen to your body is much more than just having a period. It's a change in your body, your hormones, and your mind.

Please talk to someone this is an important and special time in your life.

Most girls get it anywhere from 8-17. If you want to learn more about what it is you should ask your mom, an older sister, or an older woman that you feel comfortable with.

I got mine when I was 11. You get bad cramps (or at least I do), and feel like you just want to stay in bed all day (only for the first couple days of your cycle)
