To be honest, I don't think it makes a huge difference to the respect I'd have for him musically, I just wanted your opinions.

Just because someone was at one point suicidal or wrote of suicide does not mean that he killed himself. I go back and fourth on that topic but deep down I do believe he was murdered and that Courtney played a significant role in his misery. There is too much evidence supporting homicide and Kurt's love for Frances was much too strong to leave her. His parents neglected him and therefore he wanted to be a great father. Yes I am fully aware that Kurt used drugs and battled with depression but I just do not think he ended his own life. That said, if he did commit suicide I would never think less of him for it. Since no one really knows the truth all we can do as Nirvana fans is celebrate his life and music.

he talked about suicide in a lot of his songs especially on the in utero album ie "ON the bright side's suicide." And then I think he went through with it. I blame it on drugs. If someone murdered him and had a gun to his head to make him write a suicide note he never would have written it the way he did. It was an honest from the heart suicide note. He had to be pretty messed up to knowingly leave a little girl that he must have loved fatherless. I love his music very much as well. If you've never heard it before...try to find the song Gallons of rubbing alcohol flows through the strip.

It was suicide. He attempted it once or twice before he got it done. Check out The Rolling Stone Enclyopedia's article on Nirvana, it's the best explaination I've read.

I knew Kurt when he was still in Aberdeen and believe me, if ever there was a canidate for suicide it was him. He wasn't only depressed he was a bummer to be around too. Psychological Vampire!

Whichever. I always thought he was overrated. It didn't surprise me when I heard that he had killed himself. I always figured that it was just a matter of time. Plus, Nirvana was on their way out and nobody was really paying attention anymore. It almost makes me wonder if he did it as some sort of ultimate publicity stunt. Or else he meant it as an attention-getter and things just went horribly wrong. Whichever....
