It depends but I would say the monastery life is the NOT the best or fastest way. Living life in this world is the best classroom there is to stay awake. There is no better teacher than living in this crazy world! lol
I can't say what is best for you but to start just come into the present moment more.
Be present in this moment & for the small things(cuz moments are all we have).
Be in nature more and appreciate the colors and sounds.
Get quiet inside and FEEL more and think less.
See Life as the ultimate teacher so you can learn from everything n everyone.
Self inquire n ponder with an inquisitive, open mind.
These things don't seem like much but you'll find that your spiritual growth will grow in leaps n bounds when you have the intention to grow. The intention and the open mind and listening to the heart is all you need.
Best of luck to you!

it is a lifelong process, but the speed you grow is all based on the choices you make. most days i end up doing or saying or typing at least something that i regret(but i move on). there's also things i could've said or done that i chose not to at the time. monastery life eliminates the challenges of dealing with the rest of us, but if you can remained unshaken in the most stressful situation, then you know that you've grown. perhaps a temporary stay in a monastery can allow you to build a buffer of strength and develop your beliefs(whatever they may be) without discouragement from others who feel differently.

I think that a life of service (love and care) to others is the way to assure spiritual growth. (example: Mother Teresa)
I do not think that an enclosed monastic life will allow you to be in much contact with others.
I good tip for most everyone: "Love the one(s) you're with"
