Maradona was the greatest player ever, remember Pele had a great team and players surrounding him and he was a striker. Maradona won the WC 86 almost by him self and he was a great scorer and he was and even better midfielder that can control a game from the start, he even won the Italian tittle with Napoli he was simply the greatest. an assist to a goal is just as good as the goal cause if you didn't get that pass you would of not scored.

Pele only played 3 games in his first world cup, didn't even play in the second won but still was on the sideline and he played in his last one. and he scored most of the goals in the Brazilian league when most of the top players from Brazil and South. America were playing in Europe with the best clubs in the world.

The defenders in Pele's days were weaker and not as strong than in Maradona's days. It took more skill for maradona than Pele to get pass the opposing defence.

Pele was a gentleman in the field and out of the field and one of the best players of his generation. Maradona played ok for some years and some games but he ended up in second class teams and never went back to the top.
