Yeah, I do like it. In Greek mythology, Orion was a hunter who sought all manner of prey so it seems fitting for a craft heading out into the Great Beyond.

Some believe in the Rapture theory
and according to that People that
believe in the Rapture will be taken
to a Planet by Orion Some speculate
the Planet to be chosen will be Chiron!
We don't have to worry year 6666 is
a long way off! Unless our Calendars
lost 2,000 and some months somehow!
No I don't like that name Orion but it
Means The Holy One! Some say it
Means The God Planet! There's a
dispute about that. The vehicle
Orion should either have a Funny
name or call it Eve if it arrives on
Chiron in the Evening.. otherwise
why not call it Tecumsha which
means new beginning or new life!
Note the similarity in Chiron and
the name Orion!

Not Apollo 18 since it is not part of the original Apollo program. The Big Cheese sounds like a pizza place. Moonies are religious nut cakes.

What about Von Braun or Armstrong or even John F Kennedy? All were instrumental in the original moon program. Or, for the Trekkers out there, the Enterprise.

Every time i here the name Orion i keep thinking of that cat from the men in black movie, and some how it just doesn't sound very cool. But maybe something like Moon-Bogger or Moonshine-express or Lunar-Mooners something with a ring to it. But The big cheese sounds cool also.

I think Orion should be a name for a type of telescope ( like hubble ) or space exploring probe . A space hunter one names Orion, Because he was a hunter himself .

Bad choice for the moon . They should've
called it 'Moon Cruiser ' .

Or something fun.

Orion is too grand of a name for a trip to the moon. That name should be (and is!) reserved for a theoretical class of starships that are yet to be built, and meant for interstellar travel.
I'm for real....look it up.This ain't "trekkie" bs I'm talkin'.They've had that one on the drawing board for a long time now.Since the late 70's or early 80's I think....
The new lunar lander should be christened "Been-there-done-that VII"

Apollo 18 sounds best to me if you mean the next manned veicle to the moon. I think if you mean a probe though, orion is a great name.

It definitely should not be called Orion. They should get off their collective butts and build the real Project Orion, of which there have been drawings and blueprints for decades.

It should be called the Ford Moontang, and the first human colony on the Moon should be called Spielburgh.

The New Apollo would be cool. Apollo 2.0. I like the moon, I think we should go back.
