Hey Lady,,, where you been,,,,,, its a law called "Affirmative Action".
Affirmative Action called for equal opportunity for minorities, specifically African-Americans. On the surface this sounds logical and a good thing to do.
The results have often been a disaster:
1. If there are 5 applicants for 2 jobs what happens is that the most qualified white guy gets the job and the minority gets the other job, even is he is not as qualified as the other 3 applicants.
2. In government hiring people get points to make them qualified. For example, they get points for college degrees, points for experience, points for certification and African Americans get points for being African Americans. These are points that non-black applicants can't get.
3. When government looks at industry retrospectively they look for equality in historic hiring practices. If a company doesn't have enough blacks, they will fire or retire white workers in order to give that job to a black. If you think I'm lying here, you don't have a clue.
The biggest problem with Affirmative Action is that if a person articulates that's its unfair, that person is automatically called a racist and he is told he's a bigot. Also, you get African Americans yelling about the historical lack of opportunities and the whole thing turns into a mess. The result is that Blacks get hired and many companies are moving their factories to different countries.

Yes white people can be discriminated against. But Major employers have to keep a more even playing field in their hiring.

Yes everyone can be discriminated against for some reason or another. It's not fair but it happens to every race.

Ideally, yes - the problem is that there is a history of extreme discrimination against a number of other ethnicities, and people are searching for a way to counter that.

Yes white people can be discriminated against. There doesn't seem to be any laws protecting whites from discriminating. I agree the best applicant has NOTHING to do with someone's color.

Yes, I would like to think so, but they have to keep up their balance of races in the federal goverment and state jobs. It's frustrating but I don't know of a better way, do you?

Yep, happens all the time. Go to the southwest USA, and other areas too. Not only the government hiring practises as well many places you must speak Spanish. I do not care that they will say, must be bi lingual, it's just another way to say, we prefer Hispanics or are an Hispanic business. Texas, California are the majority Spanish now, and in San Antonio, go to the grocery store and white is the minority.
