I disagree with some answers above. Just plug in the microphone to your soundcard - the (usually pink) slot next to where you attach headphones or speakers. If you have a relatively new Windows OS you do not need to install anything.
To make sure it works, go to Start->Run
Type in sndrec32
and hit enter.
Click on the record button and check if the green indicator wiggles as you speak.

I think microphones are generally plug & play. I've never installed a microphone with software and never had a problem with one. Sometimes if you plug new hardware into the computer, the "found new hardware" message will come up. I've never seen the message with a microphone, but if that message did come up, it will guide you through the installation.

Usually you just have to plug it in and use it. You do not need a CD. Plug it in, then double click on the volume icon and make sure the Microphone volume is up and not muted.

Usually the kind of microphones that have to have a driver installed are the ones that have to be plugged in a USB port if you have one that you plug in the microphone port there is no need to install than.

No need to "install" your microphone, just plug it into the Microphone INPUT jack on your computer.
You can use the recorder that comes with Windows, it's in the ACCESSORIES

Just plug it into the correct port on your sound card in the back of your computer. I don't feel like getting too detailed on it's uses but there is always computer to computer calling, you can use it for online games that have voice communication. You can also open your sound recorder and use it that way. Its located in startmenu>all programs>accessories>entertainment
That's about as detailed as I'm going to get. Sorry but 10 points isn't really something that gets me jumping out of my seat. I get hundreds of points everyday on here.

Usually no installation is needed. But you may need to open Volume Control, advanced, and turn up the MIC volume or unmute it.
