to die is hard if the person feels that a lot of important things are unresoved, and that s/he will have pain. but to die is great if one thinks that they will be going to a heaven that is a awonderful eternal place of Love and Joy and Peace. Just gotta get through the 'dieing' part, that Christians call the Cross.

Diying itself is not hard, it's the dread of diying before it happens which makes it hard, but once dead there are two options: either it's final, in which case you will feel no pain (nothing in fact), or there is life afte death, and assuming you have been good, then there would be any pain either since you physical body, the one responsible for pain is gone.
I have been close to diying, the first time it felt like no pain at all, it;s actually a very lucid moment. but the second time when I really thought i was going to flop right there, I got skeared and I struggled to avoid it. It seems to me that it was the actual anticipation that made me anxious but the first time it seemed so natural and without any fear at all. I discovered that thinking about death all the time is unhealthy because life is here and it's the only real experience we have now, and we will spoil it by thinking on the inevitable, which doesn't have to be bad since it's a natural phenomenon, it's just a partof life as being born and growing was, but it's out ego sense, our sense of self that tends to continuate its existence and this is a natural process too, if we didn't have the survival instinct then we couldn't even survive our childhood days at all, we or any other species.

Depends on the person, depends on the situation. I should not think it is easy if the pain (say a cancer) drags on and on). Some people are also more "well prepared than others. It entirely depends on the person and his or her personal situation.
