go to the north beach area, there are tons of great restorants there, what kind of food do you like?

Try the House of Prime Rib (415) 885-4605
1906 Van Ness Ave. Its a little pricey, but very nice and fun for family. You can't go wrong with any of the seafood restaurants down on Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf. Bubba Gumps is a little cheesey, but its fun. As far as music goes, there were always good bands at the bars in the Italian part of town.

Around The City you will have to go to a bar to listen to a rock band. However there are plenty of bars and many restaurants to choose from.

If you want a loud, fun, musical place to go to... Hard Rock Cafe on Pier 39 is the closest thing you are looking for. That's a great place and the food is real good!

I would check www.craigslist.org for local rock bands, check the events page... good luck!

Check out Bimbo's 365. Good food and music. We have countless music venues. My fav. is The Fillmore.

If you don't have to have live music, I recommend Chaya, Medjool, Oola or Citizen Cake.

Slim's
Bottom of The Hill
The Red Devil Lounge
12 Galaxies
Bisquits and Blues
The Boom Boom Room
The Warfield

Check out www.eatsleepgo.com/SF.html - it has all the recently reviewed restaurants plotted on a map - it's very handy.

I highly suggest Canteen (casual in a sketchy part of time, but GREAT food). Gary Danko and Boulevard for very special ocassion food.

But for new music, I agree. www.Craigslist.org is the best source.

Masa's, Gary Danko, Boulevard, Jardiniere, Postrio, La Folie, Fleur de Lhys, and Aqua.

Can't help you with the bands.

Maverick is the best restaurant we've been to in a long time. And we dine out a lot in the City. It's been voted best new restaurant in SF by SF magazine readers. Try it! (No rock, you have to go somewhere else for that!)
