It not only depends on the size of your planned house, but they style, the materials you plan to use and a vast array of other factors like will you do the work yourself? will you hire contractors? Contractors vary dramatically in their price scales.
The cheapest detached houses I know of are geodesic domes or the hay bale house built by a nun some years ago. For ideas and options you can look through past issues of Mother Earth and other publications of that kind.

Try and get your hands on "Build It" magazine, they have numerous case studies every month with fairly detailed information.
As well as the usual plan,design, material, size, people on the job etc, i guess it would also have a lot to do with your architects design and the deal you can negotiate with your builder.
