can you monitor the temperature of your MOBO and CPU? newer MOBOs can do these. and you can get good heatsinks and fans that adjust the rpm automatically to keep things cool.
or do you over clock your computer and somebody plays hard on it and then it shuts down? that should still cause overheating though.

I agree that overheating is very likely. It could be any number of other things related to hardware though. Some motherboards have temperature monitoring, along with fan speed monitoring that you can look at in the BIOS setup screens. If that and/or checking the fans is more technical than you want to get, then best take it to a repair facility, or a friend who can.

Check the CPU fan. If it is not spinning, it ain't working. It is VERY easy to change. The part costs less than $5 and you can fix it in 10 minutes.
I had the same problem not to long ago and that was what the problem was. I am not saying that is your problem, but it might be.
Take it in and it will cost a lot more than $5.00..
If you have a computer savvy friend, get them to fix it for you.

The CPU is overheating. There are heat sensors near the CPU that when it overheats to a dangerous level for the system, it will cause it to shutdown. Also, before you take it in, check to see if the CPU heatsink's fan is plugged in.

It should be overheating, and the reason most likely is the volts are not set up right on the motherboard.

I agree with the others that this could be an overheating problem.

Yep, over heating. Replace the heat sink. Don't worry about the CPU getting fry. If it shuts down itself, then nothing to worry about, it's doing its job.

That assessment sounds about correct. Your CPU is over heating. It needs a new fan and/or heatsink (or other cooling equipment).

It could be your processor fan. It's very common for them to go out and they aren't too expensive to fix. You need to get it fixed or you could burn out your processor. Those ARE expensive to replace.
