It means carbon copy, it just sends it to somebody else aswell. bcc means blind carbon copy which means it sends it to somebody else without the main recipient knowing. cool eh?

Yes, sort of.

You can place multiple addresses in the "To: " field. Yet often you will want to address the e-mail to a specific person or group of people using the "To:" field and then you will "cc: " other people.

For instance, I might send my daughter's coach an e-mail to say I'm going to pick her up after practice at 6:00pm. I might "cc:" my wife so she knows that I've had the communication with the coach.

Therefore, my e-mail will look like this:

To: Coach
cc: Wife

Although, I could also have sent the e-mail this way:

To: Coach; Wife
cc:

In either case the e-mail will go to both recipients. However, if the subject matter of the e-mail is addressing the coach and not directly addressing my wife, then the second version might be a little confusing for her.

The term "cc" comes from the old concept of "carbon copy". Remember old copy paper with the carbon sheet between the two pieces of paper. The second one is known as the carbon copy.

Yes and it stands for the words "carbon copy". So, whoever you "cc" will get a copy of your message. They will also know that you did that. If you do a "bcc" that stands for "blind carbon copy" and the original person you sent that email too will not know that you have sent a "bcc" to another individual.

It's another place to put names of people you want to send the email to.

CC stands for Carbon copy... just a fancy way of saying "Here you go... you might want to read it to.

It's carbon Copy. It's for if you want to send your e-mail to a list of people other than the person you are e-mailing. It shows up on your e-mail as a list of people you CC'd

It copies someone into the email. bcc copies someone in as well, but they can't see who else you've sent the email too.
