I was diagnosed with PID 10 years ago. I had chronic pain in my right hand side and the Dr's thought I had appendicitis so they operated, when they found there was nothing wrong with my appendix they took them out but had a look around, they said they found something growing on my fallopian tubes and gave me antibiotics.... this carried on for a year, severe pelvic pain, antibiotics.... I then demanded to see a specialist.... I took 6 months of going backwards and forwards and me demanding for this to be looking into further before they agreed to do a laproscopy.

When they did the laproscopy they found that I have endometriosis. I have spoken to so many people who have been misdiagnosed with PID when they actually have endo. I would demand a thorough investigation and a laproscopy if needs be.

PID is not an STI, it is just an inflammation just like tonsillitis so please do not worry about what you may have caught as it does not work like that.

I hope that everything goes well.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is most commonly caused by chlamydia, although there are other causes. Just because you have PID, does not mean your partner is cheating on you. Most women and men don't know they have it because there are no symptoms. The only way to know, is if you get tested on a regular basis. A person can contract an STD the very first time they have sex, and not have any symptoms for months, or sometimes even years. So there's a lesson here.....if you are NOT in a monogamous relationship, always use a condom no matter what!!!

Firstly, don't feel dirty. We are humans, we are prone to infections in mouths, ears, noses, eyes, lungs, livers, kidneys and any orifice you could care to mention. We are completely surrounded by bacteria and malevolent viruses on a daily basis. And save the energy that you would expend by jumping to conclusions about your partner, too. There are no grounds for such allegations, and anything said in haste might be difficult to retract later.
Have you ever used an IUD, an Inter-Uterine Device, a birth-control coil? These are notorious for causing PID. Have you used a diapraghm? This again is a possible source of your problem. Do you and your partner use typical male condoms, or not? It is not impossible that he has contracted - possibly completely innocently - an infection, and then passed it to you, equally another source may be to blame.
Talk in confidence with your doctor, and soon.

And EMAILSKIP, you are a complete pillock sir, and have been reported as such. Was it worth causing offence to this lady, for such a stupid non-joke? Is there anything but space between your ears?

First of all you must not feel dirty. You have been blessed with 2 children and that is a bonus because some p.i.d's can cause infertility. The most important thing right now is to get the right treatment. There are many causes of p.i.d and chlamydia being one of them. Any sexual health clinic can do contact testing for you but it may mean your partner will need to be screened too or else you can both reinfect each other time after time. Remember p.i.d's can be resolved with antibiotics and you should not be ashamed of being a healthy sexual being. Get it sorted and be a stronger person for it! Good luck!

I read up on Pid and it can get serious. iF you haven't been with anyone but him then he , doesn't know the may have it. You had better find out about what he has been doing with other women. You can have a lot more probables with this . what did you Dr. say? I would get rid of this man before it's too late and no more sex with him or any man. look it up on the Internet and just see what may happen to you. Wish you good luck!

HIYA! sorry to hear you have PID, and yes, it can make you feel dirty. You can get it through sexual contact, but it may not be because your hubby is cheating. You can get it from not wiping the proper way, not washing after sexual contact, dyes in toliet paper, soap you wash with, the kind of material your underwear is made of & if you hubby is not circumsized, bacteria seems to grow there. And it can be passed back and forth during sex.

It's very rare that you can get PID without having an STD but it can happen. It could be caused by normal bacteria from the vagina and cervix area... but it's mostly caused by an STD's. Bacteria found in two STD's gonorrhea and chlamydia can lead to PID if left untreated.

The only way to get pelvic inflammitory disease is from having sexual relations with farm animals that have themselves been sexually active. You got some explaining to do!

Wait until you have been diagnosed first, then ask the doctors for the facts about the condition before jumping to conclusions
