Black women , why not be smart and have sex after marriage?

A news article in yahoo said....

The study found 42 percent of blacks tested positive for herpes type 2, a decline of only 4 percent since 1994.

Black women are extremely smart these days. They graduate at a higher rate than hispanics and black men. The days of getting pregnant early are becoming less. They must be using more condoms. Please women, stop having sex until marriage? Any thoughts on how we can let young teens know about this?

once you have genital herpes you have it for life. Only 80% of the people that have it now it, BE SAFE!

In 2004, 41% of all cases of P&S syphilis reported to CDC occurred among African-Americans and 40% of all cases occurred among non-Hispanic whites. The 2004 rate for African-Americans was 6 times greater than the rate among non-Hispanic whites.

In 2004, 16% of all cases of P&S syphilis reported to CDC occurred among Hispanics. The rate of P&S syphilis among Hispanic men increased 12% (from 4.9 to 5.5 cases per 100,000 population) between 2003 and 2004. The rate among Hispanic women remained essentially unchanged (0.7 cases per 100,000 population). The rate among Hispanics in 2004 was 2 times greater than the rate among non-Hispanic whites.

The point is, rates are high in all ethnic groups, true some higher than, but this isn't just a "black woman" problem. Gay men alone are a higher risk for HIV/AIDS, but are they the blame for the AIDS epidemic,no. So, if you want to pose a question about abstinance until marriage,pose it to all ethnic women, not just "black women", or for that matter all people. It is questions and comments like this that give african american people a bad name and that is why other non african american groups have such negative opinions of us. Check yourself and get out of that "crabs in a barrel" mentality.

Okay, Black women? Why don't you try ALL women, and "we" are not necessarily the ones ALWAYS having the babies before marriage or the only ones having other sexually transmitted diseases! White women as well as Black women have all kinds of std's, including AIDS in which the White people gave to "us" when we were brought over on the slave ships and "taken advantage of" in which I mean raped by the White men and had babies. Some had them at a young age there too and that was out of marriage. So please, don't try to stereotype when you don't have ALL of the facts straight; b/c someone out there (like me) can get offended for being accused on untrue things against our race which could be as worse for other races.

I am black but you need to address this information you found to all women because all women can get herpes.....I glad that you want to brag on black women but this can be offensive to other races. Go into schools and let teens know about this.

I'm not black, I am half hispanic and half italian.
However, I live in a predominantly black area and I will tell you what is going on.
Black women have so much to handle, some of them have a lot tougher lives then ours because their parents are uneducated or because their parents choose to be on the streets or because their parents shot at success failed because of racism that is still continuing these days. They see this and they want to be educated and smart so they have something for their children. However, I feel a lot of them look to sex when they're feeling emotional or depressed. This is why black women have the highest rate of abortion; we can't blame them or their race, we can only blame society for treating their ancestors so horribly that many of their ancestors have little to no education.

Regardless of the statistics , the meaning of sex does not change, nor does the use of it. people are going to do what they want regardless. so all u can do is educate and pray. but to say stop having sex is outrageous. sex is like a car , when u go to buy a car u want to see the interior(personality),exterior( their physical appearance) trunk space( their room for growth), the miles on the car( how many People they have actually had sex with), and eventually u wanna test drive it( have sex yourself). alot of People say in the bible it says " wait till your married" but what they don't wanna acknowledge is that when the bible was written People got married when they were 13,14,15 . the same ages most people lose their virginity. so as i stated before all you can do is educate and pray

Why are you focusing your questions at black women. Those statistics are just as accurate for white women with low self esteems. We as women nee to be stronger and goal oriented and realize we are worth more then a quick tug and tumble. Blakc, White, Asian,.. it doesn't matter. Just for the record, I am white, straight, and goal oriented. All of us should wait till we are married regardless of morals and integrity. In this day and age, with the diseases out there running rampid... It IS true! I pray for all my sisters to be strong and seek your strength and aim for your goals and leave the sex aside. Why not worry about you and stop worrying about everyone else. Who cares who's having sex before marriage or not it is none of your business. If you are so careful then its really not your concern. And this isn't a race issue it happens in all races.

Your study is flawed. More white women have sex before marriage and have babies out of wedlock. Don't spread incorrect information because it sends a wrong message.

you know, i dont believe in picking out a race in studies such as this. there has to be a race that is better (averaging) than another.
i dont think that its right making a race or gender stick out just because some of the people in that race or gender are better or worse than other races or genders.
