I have a Ryobi 12 inch chop saw with compound angle settings. I want to know the angles to set the saw at for corner cuts on crown moulding with a standard angle of 42 degrees. I have heard there are charts for the compound settings based on the angle of the moulding.

Crown molding is cut with the molding upside down from the way it would be installed at the ceiling level. Use standard 45 and 90 degree cuts. The key is to first place a piece of the crown molding on the wall and the ceiling and make a very light mark on the wall where the bottom of the molding rests. Now measure down from the ceiling to the mark. This measurement is then used to set your molding for correct angle on the saw. In other words, the crown molding must set against the saw table at the same angle as it would on the wall...only upside down.
Good luck!

The angle is from the back so what ever is on the front doesn't matter.Just like a mitter box
