Throughout human culture and understanding has there has always been a desire to classify such dichotomies (e.g. yin/yang, night/day, sun/moon and heaven/hell). I believe that if one were to discuss religion, the word hierarchy as it pertains to heaven and hell would more closely be associated with something like Dante's 9 Sphere's where there is a bottom and a top. However the concept of a heaven versus a hell I feel is representative of a good/evil struggle. Many mammals know the difference of something good or bad, and if one chooses no middle ground to classify you are left with but a (+) and a (-). As humans we like to classify everything as to be able to express a reality and communicate with other humans. As such, through religion, the forces of good and bad have been expressed through heaven and hell.

I believe that hell is what we are living right now. Life is hell. for everyone. even the rich and almighty have some hell going on in thier lives. I believe in reincarnation so therefore no heaven or hell, but if i had to say what heaven would be, well i would say that heaven is when you have learned every kind of knowlege available to you. that would be my heaven.

no I don't think so. Heaven and hell are symbols of good and evil.
There has always and always will be a tier system within the human race but to me that is another issue. Although Dante's inferno is an interesting idea......

I think if the concepts were not invented, then this world would be a far worse place than it really is right now. And althou it sounds like a sort of mind control on a planet - I believe it helps to keep a lot of people in check.

according to scripture in the holy bible heaven and hell is real. I strongly suggest you don't die without God but make him the focus of your life, AND THEN when you die at least it won't be hell you discover is real, right? I see no harm in living right in this world and then fairing far better in the Here After. it's a much better deal not to disregard it all, and suffer a sudden unexpected slam in deaths door and hear the doctor pronounce you dead at 11:27pm. to listen to foot steps of the staff walking away and then to slip into eternity, and find out that the bible was real after all, and so is hell. eternity is much too long, and time much too short to take that chance.

no, they just mean that there is life after death, and what happens in it all depends on what you do in this life. If you're bad, you go to hell, if you're good you go to heaven, but surely, it all depends on how God judges all living things on the Day of Judgement.

although i can see where you get the heirachy from. Sort of. Like those who are good are better then those who are bad. is'nt that the general moral idea?

I don't think so. Wouldn't it be the opposite?
People could have created it because some hate hierarchy.

Heaven and Hell are made-up. They were invented in order to scare little children and gullible people into doing whatever the myth-creators wanted. Often, the people pushing those lies are trying to scare little old ladies into sending them money so they can spend more money scaring more little old ladies into sending them money. If there were a Hell, it would be filled up with money-grubbing evangelists.

I don't see it as hierarchy but rather as "outcomes" or consequences for one's actions......
