a brother and sister....both in their late 20's want to have sexual relations, the brother is sterile, and both are know they are psychologically ready for such relations...they also want to get married and have the state recognize their marriage...should this be looked down upon? They can not conceive children, and only want to live as husband and wife...No eww answers.....state in no less than a few sentences how you feel about this, and how the gay rights situation may apply. Two people love each other in a different way than most, but in a sexual way, should society tolerate or accept them?

I say good luck to their loving relationship. And I would say that if he wasn't sterile. What 2 consenting adults do behind closed doors is their own business. Not the neighbors, nor the government. I think people's view are incest are based on the same view people had when they thought the world was flat.... folklore. Most gays and lesbians are still in the closet due to this closed minded society.
As for married between siblings, the best bet is to live in a state where they allow common law marriages, like California. I would be proud to treat this couple as husband and wife and call them friends. I would open my doors to them without hesitation.

As long as there is no children, play through. Many families stayed at home over time. A brother and sister can do whatever they like under their own roof. Society should have nothing to say
but they will. That is why they do not tell anyone that they are siblings. They already have the same name. Who's to know. Your set up is that there will be no children. That would potentially be a societal problem in that nature prefers genetic diversity. Health care people encounter the results of too much intermarriage frequently in small populations. Where personal /sexual relationships are concerned we would all be better off if "society" would get the hell out of our bedrooms.
Interesting question, is this hypothetical?

Well, I am about as open minded as they come, and this one strikes me as not a particularly good idea. But, if it is going to be, I strongly suggest they move far away from where they are knows to be brother and sister, live their own lives, and keep their mouths shut about the relationship...no one the wiser, no one to judge. Since states do not allow brother/sister marriage, I think there will have to be some identity changes here and there, but is it really necessary to marry? Domestic partners are recognized in many states without so much quesitoning. Good luck

Society tolerates too much crap as it is. There is no state that will knowingly marry a brother and sister. The gay rights issue has nothing to do with your question. There are many things that should be looked down upon, not because society tells you to but because common sense and a little bit of knowledge dictates it.

Mutant rabbits, probably. @Alaric: Yeah, the Egyptians used incest to maintain the flexibility in the relatives. What you skipped over is that countless the youngsters have been quite deformed, or undesirable in some way. they had to have a good number of infants previously one got here out ok.

Not only is it illegal it is strictly forbidden in the Bible and in society as a whole. The gay question has no point here as you are both obviously heterosexual. It doesn't matter if he's sterile or not. Society does NOT recognize it and should NEVER recognize it as acceptable.

No state will perform a brother-sister marriage.Since you are both adults no lecture on the morality issue. You are both old enough to know it is wrong. No gay rights situation applies here.

No that should not be legal. If we start with that, then soon to follow will be pedophiles saying they "love" young children so they should be able to legally have relations with them. Or fathers and daughters. It's just wrong no matter how you try to make it right.

It is illegal in all states, sorry.
However, if you move to another state and just announce your married, you both have the same last name.
And you have the drivers lic to prove it.
Good luck.

Puttting the repulsion aside, it would be impossible for them as long as society dictates that incest/gay marriages are wrong.
