stay focused..that should always be your goal but it is truly easier said than done..i am currently trying to work on that everyday! there is always so much to do other than to study! Also, REPITION...i know (for certain classes especially) that if i repeated everything i learned like notes, terms, ideas...my grades would skyrocket..sometimes that takes so much TIME!!! which is super hard to find! but it helps! memorization is key to college success! because after that class you don't really need it (well, most of the time :)

You learn study stratagies in elementary school and high school . You just perfect them in college and university.

You take subjects that will lead you to a major that not only intersts you but will also take you some kind of a career.

You actually attend classes and seminars, read the material assigned to you and do the essays, study tale the exams .

You balance your life with some time off but you don't get disgustingly high or drunk so that you cannot go back to doing your work in school. When you're ill you ask for help from the health sciences building or the counsellors.

In summer you try and find work that will enhance your education but not necessarily your degree. You can find a job that combines school work and real work and actually teaches you how to combine the two and come up with a synergistic completion you're already succeeding.

You also remember your parents who help pay for your education, and your friends and sibs and when you finally do get a job and succeed financially you remember where you came from and give back to your community in whatever ways you can.

That's a strategy for success that works for not only university and college students but just about everyone.

Have a girlfriend. You don't want to be in class and not able to concentrate because all you want to do is *****. I really experienced that after my girlfriend and I broke up. It was a very painful week. Or, I guess, never have sex. I never cared about having sex until after I finally had it. Then I was instantly addicted. So, the answer is, either have a steady, reliable girlfriend on the pill (and deal with her mustache), or don't have sex. Next, once you have dealt with your hormones, realize that hormonoly you are a night creature, and you will stay up all night to study, but sleep in until at least noon, so have no classes start before noon. Finally, don't stay up all night cramming for exams. That does not work. It's better to get a good night sleep the day before an exam, rather than staying up all night cramming. Cramming is for procrastinators, therefore, don't procrastinate. Good luck. I think I earned ten points, and if not, then I hope you fail in life and end up living with your parents for years after college because you are such a loser, and nobody will hire you, and you wait tables, and your family even stops by to make you wait on their table to make fun of the college educated waiter. You are a loser if you don't vote my answer the best.

Edit: I would really and honestly, go to a movie the night before the final or mid term. Also, study groups were extremely important. Somebody always has something that you missed. Finally, and this may sound counter-intuitive, but don't take notes in class. Instead, learn how to listen. Take your notes after the class, and leave some time between classes in order to go to a library and reflect on the lecture. If you have a listening problem, record the class, and in time, you will learn how to listen better.

Edit #2: Sit in the front row, and visit with the professor bi-weekly just because.

Study first, play later. It's really not that hard. Find a study group or study partner to bounce your work off of. Always do your assigned readings. If there are questions at the end of the chapters, look up the answers to those, even if they aren't assigned as homework; lots of professors use these as test questions and it also keeps your brain sharp. Keep your pants on; sex will still be there after you finish school and get a job. And it will be better quality sex. If you must drink, don't drink too much; it leads things that get you in trouble (like icky sex). Do not skip class; college costs money! And don't wait too long to choose a major. Figure out what you want to do and then do it.

Never get behind, never cut a class, always ask questions, always seek help when you don't understand a concept.

College professors don't care if you show up or not. Its just as easy to give you an F as it is to give you an A.

Self-discipline is the only way to survive.

Get involved in a club or other activity. It will break the tension and help keep you focused. Do intramurals. Go to the home football games and yell for all you are worth. It helps and you are among thousands of your very best friends.

Have fun, but........... don't get arrested.

Lastly, and most importantly, stay out of the bars during the week. And never ever get involved with illegal substances.

Really like the field you are going into. Of course study, find another student you can quiz each other on. Focus on what you are doing at all moments and remember to have fun and take a break so you will feel refreshed and not stressed. Your memory works better that way. Take it from an A and B student in School and an Honor's Roll student in a medical institution. I am now an Elementary Teacher.

Personally, I don't think there is a good study strategies. You have to find the most effective way to study through experimenting different methods. Also, you need to manage your time effectively. It can save you during Midterms and Finals when people are pulling all nighters to learn the materials from way back.

GOTO Class AND be ALERT!!!! Probably one of the most important things that too many blow off. Showing up in a daze doesn't work. You can learn alot by listening to the lectures, if nothing else, you can get clues to tests, and how to answer questions for top grades. plus you get important announcements, like when tests have been moved and the like (DO NOT depend on other students to inform you of this. some will intentially hurt you to help them in the curve....especially any class loaded with pre-meds, they are evil sumbitches!)

get out of your dorm/apt to study, goto the library.

find studious ones and study with them.

Do not fall behind.

Know when to study, and know when to party.

Sleep when you get old, red bull was made for YOU!

You will have to sacrifice a bit, by placing your education as top priority. Remember you will be studying for something that you want to do as a career. You must ask yourself, what is more important doing something I really love or making money? If you can balance these two issues together you can make a good career.

Also, there is no problem in switching majors, but find what you want to do and pursue it with passion!

Good luck !

Go to the library to study. Do not take early morning Friday classes if you like to go out. Study and do homework between classes or righht after class. It is very easy to get distracted by all of the social aspects of college, but if you work hard all day you can enjoy yourself at night.
