I have done this myself. I can't really recommend this unless you have absolute trust in each other. It's too easy to get carried away and hurt each other. Lust for one person can really hurt the feelings of the other in this scenario.
Oh, and as for the "your wife will leave with the other guy" people... if she's going to leave you because she sleeps with one other guy, then she's going to leave you anyways. She can *always* go have sex with some other guy. If she wants you there also, then she probably loves you. :-)
I'm assuming your wife still wants to do this, so here is my advice. Let the woman drive the process. Everybody always believes that the men want the threesomes, so let her be the ambitious one that actually asks the intimate questions. If this is really HER fantasy, make it HER fantasy and let her pick out a person, woman or man.
If it's a woman, make sure she's not going to flake out. Make sure she understands what's going on. That actually goes double for a man, because men are emotionally wired to their penis.
If it's a man, make sure you can stand the guy. And make sure he's either your best friend, or that you're never going to see him again. You don't want to run into this guy at the corner market, do you?

Since the wife wants to experiment and you are also into the threesome, I would go for you the wife and another woman. I think that you would be more at ease that way. Before you do it though, you both need to discuss the issue seriously and make sure that you have set rules into place. Please make sure that neither of you are the jealous type. there can be issues, it has not been for us but some of our friends could not handle it. Make sure.

Seriously, they usually end up causing marital problems. You know.........."you liked screwing her better than me" or "do you think about screwing her when your screwing me?" Things like that. Although it sounds fun, you should seriously consider the long-term ramifications. It can cause jealousy you didn't expect and bring up all kinds of trust issues. My suggestion is buy some toys, a karma sutra book and find other ways to spice up your sex life!

I have a friend that was in this situation. The wife left with the other man. If you want to sleep with other people, you shouldn't have committed to one.

Well my first time was with another woman.
It was easier from me then jumping in with another man.
We did that later.
We have a few couples that we get with and either swap or me and the other woman then exchange men.
