A 50 year old black man has certainly seem many kinds of subtle and not so subtle discrimination in their lives. I am not sure that anyone is conciously oppressing black people any more, but that does not mean that we are comfortable together. White people don't understand the issue, but for the most part, I don't think black people do either. Most white people are fearful of doing the wrong thing and would not intentionally do something bad to black people. The 400 years shows that slavery is not something that just goes away when it ends. The effects last for a long time.

The oppression began with the slave trade in the Americas (around 1500), and didn't end (depnding on your definition of oppression) until the 1960s, when many blacks were still legally kept from voting, education, decent jobs, and other things the rest of us leaned on to create the American Dream.

ummmm, probably since 1600's at the hands of the Dutch who originally settled Manhattan. Maybe more by other cultures prior, but those don't count in this case.

Do you think it's all a hoax? just like the Holocaust right? suck it up. don't mean it's YOUR fault, it just happened.

Dont know. Ask someone from Haiti, the most impoverished, crime-ridden square mile on the planet and no whites have ever lived there to oppress them.

You answered your own question. But don't forget that blacks from Africa sold their own people to European slave traders.
