im the lead guitarist in my local band "dying legend" and they want me to play hardcore deathmetal but i want to do punk rock like "Green Day" or rock 'n' roll like Ozzy, but they wont let me, should i quit the band and make my own or stay with them and shut my mouth???? please help!

Music should be a passion, not something someone is making you do. You should quit so you can play what you love to play, you will be a much better musician for it. Rock on!

Well... Green Day isn't punk... Ozzy IS metal... But to your question: Quit the band. Music is about expression, so shutting your mouth kinda goes against the point.

This is pretty common sense. You should leave so they can have a guitarist who actually wants to play their style of music. Nothing makes a band suck faster than having a member who is clearly not enjoying themself. Obviously you are not, therefore, if you leave, it will benefit both you and the band. You can do your thing, they can do theirs.

Also, please tell me you do know that Ozzy was in Black Sabbath, one of heavy metal's finest.
