Practice the problems over and over and over and over. Like writing something 100 times. Then you will find you remember and understand. Suddenly math will not be such a challenge. Sometimes a person has to review very basic things like multiplication tables. Do not feel shy. If you are not a whiz at arithmetic you will have difficulty factoring algebra.
If you do not know them well, review them.
Say as fast as possible, like a tongue twister.....
3, 6, 9, 12, 15,18, 21, 24, 27, 30
do this for all the numbers up to 12
4, 8, 12, 16, 20 24, 28, 32, 26, 40
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50
6, 12, 18, 24, 30 36, 42, 48, 54, 60
7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70
and so on...
Then do squares
1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, 196, 225
Then cubes
1, 8, 27, 64, 125, 216
Just keep practicing.
Then if you have algebra write those formulas till your pen runs out of ink.
When you practice you will be able to do it in your head and you will be amazed at how easy it really is.
Do you remember learning to skip?
Do you remember learning to tie your shoes?
Do you remember learning to whistle?
Do you remember learning to blow a bubble with gum?
Do you remember learning how to ride a bike?
Do you remember learning how to skate?
These things were all unsurmountable obstacles to you at one time. The more you struggle, the stronger you get. Do not let math overcome you. You are stronger than that. You can overcome the math. Really.
