At the moment? Oh come on, why qualify it?
Why is there so much rubbish on TV?
It is all part of the "dumbing down". Living outside the UK and only going back occasionally it is really comical to see how well it is working! Even on this site, you get these frenzied idiots asking dumbarse questions about "Big Brother"; as if it matters!

I don't know why but I am glad I am 14 and don't have to pay for a TV Licence yet.
I now can live without a TV. I just need a computer with internet & my Hi-Fi & I can watch clips of what I want & listen to music on sites like YouTube.

Its funny, my Mom used to always say, how come the English shows are so good. Fawlty Towers, etc. I said, well we get their best stuff over here, I am sure they have crap as well.
We live in a culturally stagnant time. Its more about money than it was before, but damn, does that mean it all (or 99%) has to be horrible. Here in the states I rarely watch network tv. HBO, cable channel has great progamming. The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Big Love, and more. And isn't commercial music just about as bad as well?

TV has never been worse or more moronic in my lifetime (I'm 43). In my opinion, there are two recent factors: 1, the TV companies have spent all their money on establishing new channels than making decent programmes, and 2. "reality" TV is cheap, easy and nasty, but seems to fill their schedules, thus saving them from any need to make good programmes. It's sickening.

It's all about the ratings, it takes a brave new and creative way of marketing & performance is what keeps tv shows alive. As far as the movies go, it seems anything goes. A movie is'nt a movie unless it has alot of (action) (adventure) (blood) or (killings).
Networks compete against one another like opponents in a boxing ring, only the strong survive.

because it is summer and the new fall programming has not started yet then it may still be rubbish in the fall because the tv producers cannot come up with a lot of decent programming and we must let them know that we want decent programming by what we watch and by being willingly to share with tv survey sites what we like to watch

What do you mean - 'at the moment'? Some of the richest people in the country are at the BBC. You have to keep on paying for their lavish lifestyles and the cheap rubbish they produce on the box!
