A Cash Bash is always a good idea. Sell tickets for a set price 10 or 20 dollars, have some food, some people also have alcohol at the bash, and then have cash drawings at certain times. You could also do a 50/50 raffle or a home run hit-a-thon or something where people pledge money for each homer you hit.

24 hour sponsered football athon, or see who lasts longest. Dress as your footie heros. recreate football history.
Keepie uppy for 5 hrs.
Headers for 5 hrs etc, all sponsered.
Put on a football themed funny play about your team getting together, sell tickets and have refreshments to sell.

selling candy or food. In my high school the football team bought tons of chicken bisciuts for $1 at chich fil a and sold them for $2 a piece.

Raffle...call a bunch of businesses to donate services like dinner for two, % off of jewelry, sports t-shirt or equipment from Sports Authority.....(tip all companies have budgeted some money for charity) then Raffle it all off to raise money.
