It will heat up the toothpaste. Then a chemical reaction will happen and the toothpaste will break down releasing more energy which could melt the glass of the light bulb.
If the toothpaste touches the filament inside the light bulb while this reaction is still happening it could catch on fire.

it may break the bulb. it may simply cook the tooth paste. assuming you use a mint toothpaste, it will, indeed, as noted, smell minty.
