Do you have to pay to have an agent? For example, having an agent to get you to auditions and promotions for acting.

They get paid based on a percentage of what you are paid for a job that you did that the agent actually booked for you. YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO PAY AN AGENT BEFORE HE GETS YOU A JOB. Be careful, there are many scams out there.

Yes...they have to eat and pay bills too. Plus once they get you paying jobs they get a percentage of your income

Yes, unless you have someone close to you do it for you and then you can split or pay when you actually make the money.
