She should be able to start now. When my son was around 7-8 months old I started using a food processor for his foods instead of buying the baby food. This way he could have almost anything we were having: Potatoes, squash, beans, carrots. I mashed bananas for him although he liked to hold them himself. Give her soft foods and she'll be fine!

if she can chew well then she can have stage 3 foods. also if she is eating more solids and less breastmilk or formula. some of the stage 3 foods are the same as the stage 2, just bigger jars, but some stuff has chunks of pasta and vegetables and herbs and stuff. actually alot of the stuff that is in the stage 3's, like pasta and eggs and yogurt she shouldn't be having yet... so i would say 9 months. that's when i started to give my son stage 3s. good luck and enjoy! oh and gerber baby food has lots of added sugar and salt, read the ingrediants. i prefer beech nut baby food. no added sugar and if there is salt it is like a teensy bit. but my son likes the lasagna with meat sauce gerber food... and the sugar won't kill him... i don't know what i am so worried about.

I am a nutritionist
normally stage one starts at 6 months and continuse till 9months
stage 2 is from nine months till one year
stage three is so similar to table foods that you eat you can skip them and give table food (watch for choking hazards and make good food choices)
at 7 months she should still only be eating very small ammounts of solid foods she should be getting almost all her nutrients from formula or breast milk solids are more for practice at this point

My now 13 month old daughter wouldn't touch them! She ate 2nd stage from 6-11 months, she didn't like the texture. I work for Ochsner ( a medical clinic) and the peditrician here told me not to stress out she would come around. But she didn't, she went from 2nd foods to table foods. You just have to test your baby to see if shes ready.

Never.
We started solids around 6 mos with all three kids.
By 9 mos they were all eating finger foods/table foods and not baby foods. Youngest was actually starting table foods by about 7 mos, we just watched what we gave her.

You can cook up your own carrots and stuff, boil these in plain water and either cut them into small pieces or mash them. If she's not sensitive to foods that is. Ask your doctor. But I'd go with cooking up and mashing my own veggies. A little baby fruit juice is good too. Keep serving cereal too.

At ten months, he or she could be thoroughly off infant foodstuff, and eating what you're eating. you'd be surprised at how good gums are even formerly enamel commence coming through. With my first newborn, i became terrified of giving him table foodstuff till I took him to ensure a number of my elderly aunts at 10 months previous. even as they observed me giving him degree 3 ingredients, they'd a extra healthful, and all started giving him eggs, sausage, roast pink meat, and different extremely tender ingredients. when I were given him back living house, he needed not something to do with infant foodstuff, and would not take something that he couldn't %. up himself. It became then that i realized what a waste of money degree 3 ingredients are. in case you newborn can deal with degree 3 (and at 10 months, i'm particular he or she will) then your newborn can deal with actual foodstuff. Chop (not puree) even with you're having for dinner into tiny products, and enable your infant %. it up and attempt it.
