Yes, they can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome (which is although, rare) You can avoid this by changing your tampon every 4-6 hours and always use the lowest absorbancy possible. (Only use super on really heavy days, light on less days....) You can also reduce the chances further by not wearing one overnight, instead use a pad. Don't be afraid of tampons though...they allow you to do all of your everyday activities without worrying about a shifting pad and you can't even feel them when you have them inserted correctly. Good luck!

Yes tampons do cause TSS, or Toxic Shock Syndrome. It's cause when you leave a high absorbincy tampon in for too long and the bacteria from your blood makes you sick. But it is very rare and there has been few cases since the late 80's when companies re-did almost every tampon to prevent it. There is about 95-115 cases reported in the US every year, so your chances are very slim. Go ahead and use them without any fear, just make sure you're using the lightest absorbincy that you need, and try to avoid using 'heavy' or 'super' tampons unless you really need to.

Tampons are the best way to go for protection if you ask me. Pads are actually less sanitary because the blood just sits there, but in Tampons it takes the blood out of your body.

Hope that helps, hon. ;)

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare disease, and yes, it is associated with prolonged tampon use.

That means that when using a tampon, use the lowest absorbency that you can. You should be changing it every 4 hours or so. Buying a strong absorbency so that you can leave it in for 8, 10, 12 hours is what contributes to TSS risk. Start off with a junior absorbency, then buy stronger if you need it. Go one level at a time, Junior to Regular. Then try the supers, then super-plus.

For additional imformation, read the paper that comes inside the box of tampons. It contains all the information that you need to know about tampon use. How to insert them, when to pull them out, how to know what level to use, etc...

Yes, it's called Toxic Shock Syndrome, but it's very rare. It only happens if you leave the tampon in for more than like ten hours. Go ahead and use tampons, but make sure you read the directions. There really isn't much to worry about.

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a serious but uncommon bacterial infection. TSS was originally linked to the use of tampons, but it is now also known to be associated with the contraceptive sponge and diaphragm birth control methods. In rare cases, TSS has resulted from wounds or surgery incisions where bacteria have been able to enter the body and cause the infection.

The symptoms of TSS include sudden high fever, a faint feeling, watery diarrhea, headache, and muscle aches. If your child has these symptoms, it's important to call your child's doctor right away.

TSS. Toxic Shock Syndrome. Yes! If you leave your tampon in for too long you run the risk of get TSS. You can safely use tampons as long as you change them often, I'd say to never leave one in for more than 4 hours at a time.

Yes, tampons can cause TSS (toxic shock syndrome). It isn't something that happens often, but if you use tampons it can happen to you. You can read all about TSS if you buy a box of tampons and read in the enclosed information. You could use tampons your whole life and never get it, but you could also be one of the women that uses them and does get it.

Tampons can cause toxic shock syndrome, which can be deadly. However, if you change them very frequently, and don't leave them in overnight, you won't have to worry. Read the warnings inside the tampon box for more info.
