Canned air is a great cleaning device. Make sure you always hold the can upright and gently blow the air onto the screen to remove any dust particles. Most often, this will get rid of most of the dust. For smudge marks or fingerprints, you will need to wipe the screen. First and foremost, do not use a paper towel. As soft as they might seem to you, they are abrasive and over time will scratch your screen. Find a soft cotton cloth, or an electrostatic cloth used to clean eyeglasses. Always wipe in one direction (usually top to bottom). Do not use Windex or any other solvents that contain ammonia or ethyl alcohol, as these will cause your screen to turn yellow. There are several commercial products available*, or if you want, you can use just plain water or water mixed with a tiny bit of vinegar or isopropyl alcohol.
Following these suggestions will ensure you have a clean, and scratch free screen for years to come.

A soft cotton cloth. When cleaning the LCD screen it is important to use a soft cotton cloth, rather than an old rag. Some materials, such as paper towels, could cause scratches and damage the LCD screen.
Solution of water and isopropyl alcohol. This solution can be used along with the soft cotton cloth.
Computer wipes. Only use these if they specifically state on the package they are designed for LCD laptop screens. Computer wipes can come in handy for fast clean-ups or when you want to avoid mixing up a cleaning solution yourself.
I usually mix the isopropyl alcohol, 50% with 50% water, in a spray bottle, and spray the cloth..

CLEAN LCD SCREENS â
â
â Lightly spray windex on a really soft cloth and wipe the screen. Do not spray directly on the screen.
â Be very careful not to press very hard or you'll damage areas of the screen.
â You can buy a monitor protector to place over your screen. Another way is to cut out a piece of clear plexiglass slightly larger than the screen area and attach the plexiglass to the monitor with double-faced tape. This will keep people from pokiung the screen with their fingers and spraying the screen when they cough or sneeze.

I use the Endust Electronics Cleaner in a spray can. Not the cheapest, but works quite well for me. I do spray it onto the soft lint-free cloth, as someone mentioned above, not the screen directly.
