Do you know what could be wrong with it? How could you fix it? Only serious answers please.

Oh, and it's not viruses. The computer also has Windows ME on it. Thanks for the help.

Assuming it won't read ANY disc you put in it....

Could be several things.

1: The drive needs cleaning, get a disc cleaner at most any store that sells electronics.

2: The cables to the drive could be loose. Check to make sure they're solidly connected.

3: Check your Controller driver's settings in Device Manager and make sure there isn't an Error Icon by the controller.

Re-install the drivers for the CD rom!

Is it a burned disk? If it's an older CD drive they don't always read newer CDRW's. I had an old drive that would not read some burned disks that I made.

ours did that.. our disk drive was bad.. call your computer tech support.. find out about your warranty.. if it is still under warranty they will send you a new one and everything will be ok..
