How did Elton John learn to sing?

I know how he learned piano, but i've never read anything on how he developed such a lovely voice

Elton was born musically gifted, all it needed was a little practice to make it what it was.

A child prodigy, at age 4 he was able to play the piano by ear to any melody he heard. At 11, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, staying for six years and leaving before graduation to focus on his music career.
