I want it out of my basement but I have to pay the cable company to move it. Will I have the same speed if I do?

Just put it in a wheelbarrow and move it.

Alot of internet cable companies use filters on the internet connection point to help for speed. Some dont. Try simply moving it to another cable connection in the house and see if the modem will connect. If it does you can test it and see if you get the same speed out of it. otherwise you will have to call the cable company to come move it and they will usually charge a fee.

You're on cable internet I assume. The best way is getting a longer LAN cable or UTP45 cable, so you can move the computer somewhere else. Or you can get a wireless router and have your cable modem connected to it, this setup will also give the freedom to move your computer around.

The speed will usually be the same, since you are connected to one source.

Yes it proably will keep its origional power . Also if you dont want to pay alot for it to be moved you can run a normall net cable up to where ever you wan't it. It will proabaly cost alot less.

Just go wireless. Buy a wireless router and connect it to the cable or dsl modem. Buy a wirelss card and connect to your computer.

if you have dial up unplug the phone line from the wall jack and plug it into another one in another room
