Well it is traditional for the boyfriend to pick out a ring. He is picking it out with love in mind.......don't pressure him for a big gaudy ring. Let him pick it out. I used to work in a jewelry store and these poor guys would come in so nervous and actually shaking! and then there were couple that came in together and the girl picked it out but I think that that just ruins the romance and the element of surprise in an engagement....when i got engaged i told my husband that i didn't want to pick out the ring.......i guess he thought i would hate what he picked out and throw it at him or something! i just told him that i didn't want a microscopic stone lol and the ring he gave me was beautiful! and when he proposed to me i was completely surprised. I was at work and not expecting to see him that day and when i got home he was at my house! he went to go ask my parents for their blessing and permission to have my hand in marriage! unfortunately my dad was out of town working but he asked my mom! it was awesome!

My husband insisted we look at wedding rings after a month of dating - I was 25, he was 32 at the time. We found my engagement ring at the first jewelry store we went to...then checked out other places just to be sure. We kept comparing all other rings to that ring. It was very sweet because my husband actually picked it out - I tried it on and fell in love with it. 3 months later he proposed.
So do whatever feels right for the both of you - I enjoyed going together because we it's something for the two of you - just like marriage itself - and both partners should be part of it. It made it more special, timeless and classic.

Traditionally....he should pick it out for you....hell, traditionally, you wouldn't even be discussing it, he would just ask you out of the blue one day. Then, the two of you would shop together for bands. A lot of couples these days are picking the ring out together...or, I have known of a few guys who just give their credit card or whatever to the girl and let her go pick it out by themselves. I think that sucks! Kind of takes out all the romance. Some women are just too picky and can't be happy with what the guy picks out. Personally, I think that's sorry and vain on her part, but to each their own.

You can drop hints.. or casually show him pictures of rings that you like, but you do not get to acutally go and pick out the ring. That is not fun or traditional. He is supposed to know you well enough to pick out something he knows you will like.
He is going to be your husband.. so let him pick out this special gift. ... i would drop hints if this guy is usually clueless.
Good luck & I hope it's gorgous

My husband and I went around to about 20 different places looking at rings. After looking I decided on like 10 different styles that I liked and when he was ready to propose he went and picked one of them out. By doing it this way he knew that I would love it (not that I wouldnt have if he had chosen all on his own) and that I wouldnt know which one I was getting until the proposal. I love the one he picked out and it means so much to me. Good Luck!!

The traditional way is for him to pick out the ring. Now if you trust his taste the ring should be a good one. But if you don't trust his taste, you might need to go out and pick it yourself or at least go with him.

You two should go look at rings together, but he is the one thats supposed to pick one out for you. You can of course hint which ones you like. I hope you will love it!

He picks the ring. Drop hints here and then of what type of design would you prefer, but that is HIS task unless he specifically asks you to help him pick it.
Good luck
