I remember back in the early 90's when I was kid watching the original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers and every time they would go to their command base they would show a shot of this weird looking building with a tower like structure on top of which there's a hole through which the rangers would teleport. Now I'm pretty damn sure from what I've seen that the outside shots of this building were of an actual real-life building. Does anyone know where this building is? It's purpose? And if it still exists? Just curious.

XXX13. you must be mistaken. the original mighty morphin power rangers were a knock-off the japanese zyuranger show. there never was a power rangers animated show in the 80's and the reference to Zoltar you mentioned was from the MMPR's pilot episode, which was then changed to zordon. Until recently, this pilot had never been aired on television.

To elaborate on boukenger's response, it's the "House of the Book", a conference/concert hall on the Brandeis-Bardin Institute compound in Simi Valley in Southern California, about half an hour out from L.A. (assuming good traffic). The BBI is a Jewish religious retreat.

In Power Rangers, the building was often shown superimposed on rocky crags that aren't part of the real location.

The same building was used in Star Trek VI as the site of the Khitomer conference, and in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Descent" where Data's evil brother Lore takes charge of a bunch of stray Borg.

I think its funny. You say old school Power Rangers LOL

The real "old school Power Rangers" were Voltron! Don't you know it was a rip from an 80's cartoon. I guess I'm just showing my age now.

Somewhere in California I think, I seem to remember the same building appearing in Star Trek: The Next Generation as Lore's base in 'Descent'?

I'm not sure which building it is... but I saw an old episode from when I was a kid (early 90's as well) and realized how bad the special effects were... oh to be young & ignorant....
