Most certainly the better music was in the 1980's, but the 1970's took some beating.
I tell you what I notice most about today's 'groups' and the 70 & the early part of the 80's. Look back at footage and see Noddy Holder & co of SLADE enjoying themselves. The whole band smiled and laughed at the camera. Ditto David Essex, Irena Cara (FAME - I'm gonna live forever...) ABBA, Dexy's Midnight Runners and the list goes on.
Nowadays it's as if it is a chore getting up there and 'singing' lol.

If you had lived through the HELL of crappy bands like New Kids on The Block you would realise that it just seems that way.
its easy to look back at a generation and only pick the good stuff and say "music was so much better then" but there was a hell of a lot of crap in the 80's that is not played now.
In the 80's I looked back at the 60's for good music.

You like the 80s b/c you are 19.
Let me explain, it seems to me every generation hates the music that was popular as a child. But reminisces about the music they had to listened to from their parents. Like in the car, at home, etc. Which would be the the prior generation and of course the person would love the music of their teen years. I myself, hate 80s music. I think it was the worst decade of music. Now there are a few that I enjoy but as a whole, no. To much European influence I think. That was the years I was a young child. Now I love the 90s and the 70s which relates to my theory above. The 70s b/c that is what I heard from my parents and of course the 90s as a teenager.
This theory of mine I have tested it time and time again with people and it stands true. Exampl: Most teenagers today hate the 90s but love the 80s.

No I think the top 10 is crap because now a days, older people buy albums or download music off the net. Only kids buy singles and kids usually have poo taste. In the 80's people used to buy singles more often and watch programmes such as Top of the Pops etc. We didn't have music channels so both kids and adults watched them.

i trust u thoroughly! todays song has no soul! eccpecially that rap sh*t! what the f*** is soulja boy! some new song is rather good yet its no longer almost as good as song from th 60s and 70s. ive continuously seen myself to have been born interior the incorrect technology. im like certainly one of those hippie. and im thirteen. im a great fan of the beatles, jimi hendrix, queen, poison, and all song from the 50s-90s. i choose i'd desire to flow lower back to the 60s or 80s or 40s or perhaps even 20s. those cases appeared lots relaxing. and that i dont see what the great deal is with hannah montana and the jonas bros. theyre so gay! and theyre extra directed in the direction of little little ones yet all human beings makes a great deal approximately them.

I personally prefer music from the 70's. Thought 80's music was horrible (except the Hair Band stuff).

You have an ear for 'music'...the 80s had better music than today, by far, but even better was music recorded/released in the 70s and 60s!!!
