first expand

-3/2 + 9/4 + 1/8

as you can see all of them are factors of two so we can change them to a common denominator.

-3*4/2*4 +9*2/8 +1/8

18/8+1/8 -12/8 Now add all the numerators

The answer is 7/8

= -12/8 + 18/8 + 1/8
= (-12+18+1)/8
= 7/8

which also equals 0.875
