Is the bond of love going to snap the bond of friendship in this case?
How long have you been friends and how deep do your feelings of friendship go? I think you should talk to him openly about both what your heart wants and what is best for your relationship with him. If you care for each other enough as friends, a failed romance won't kill your friendship.

If you start a romantic relationship with him and it doesn't work, things will never be the same. You have to decide if it's worth the risk involved.
