Newborn fish are called fry. Fry of egglayers are much smaller than livebearer fry and need very fine food until they can fit flakes in there mouths.

A good fry food is "Sera Micron", it is a very, very fine high protein food made in Germany. It is usually available in most pet stores. You should feed fry 2-3 times a day until they are at least one half inch long.

As they get older, you can start feeding them frozen baby brine shrimp (BBS). Good protein. If the parents are small, they will enjoy the BBS also.

Make sure you do your regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes for ALL your tanks. Fry tanks should be done every 3-4 days until they are a half inch long.

Newborn fish are called fry. Caring for them all depends on what sort of fish they are. I'll assume that you have livebearer fry since you used the term, newborn and not hatched. They don't need any specific care except crushed flake or other small food. Preferably they should be in a tank of their own, or at least in a tank that has hiding spots from the parents as many fish will eat their own young.

Newborn fish are called fry. You need to isolate them from the adult fish or they will be eaten. I used to take my livebearer mom and when she was about to deliver, put her in a plastic breeder where the babies would fall to the bottom away from the mom as soon as they are born. Once the mom was finished I would put the babies in a different tank, that was meant just for babies. I would leave the mom in the breeder for a few days to regain her strength before putting her back with the other adult fish. As the babies in the baby tank grew up, I would add them to an adult tank. Also, the pet stores will sell food made especially for fry.

the majority of answers are correct--the fish are called fry--separate them from other fish for fear of losing them or put anacharis lants floating on top so they can hide n the plant for protection Do NOT change the water as it has a good chance of causing the disease "ick" as they are very succeptible to changes. Again yu may buy "baby" fish food but i9n my pet store I alsways did what everyone else said--grind the regular food into a fine powder --why pay more for basically the same ingredients already ground up!! Good luck

new born fish are called fry and you have to seperate them from the mother or else she will eat them, give them powdered food like flakes, get a plastic bag and put some food in it then use your fingers to crush the food till it's powdery and feed your baby fish with that
