How do you know when you should take a new job that you haven't applied for but have been asked to do?

Ah, the offer turned out to be not what I hoped it was, but thanks so much for responding!!! One of those things where if I hang in there it could turn into a great opportunity.

What do you mean? Is this an additional responsibility at your current position (with no raise?) Is this a chance to become more visible and learn new skills? Or is someone else not doing there own job?

Is it a totally unrelated new job at a new company? If so, how did they contact you? Are you invested in your current position?
