Does anybody know where I can find the Monologue (I beileve it is spoken by Mrs. Webb) during Emily's Wedding in the play "Our Town". Either that or a link to the script would also be great.

Here's a link for scripts online...I'm not sure if they have any Thornton Wilder...but it should be handy for many other scripts you may someday need...

There are no extensive monologues by Mrs. Webb in the wedding scene...but here's a transcription of the one she does make....taken from the book 'Sixteen Famous American Plays' published by 'Modern Library' 1941.

MRS.WEBB. I don't know why on earth I should be crying. I suppose there's nothing to cry about. It came over me at breakfast this morning; there was Emily eating her breakfast as she's done for seventeen years and now she's going off to eat it in somebody else's house. I suppose that's it. And Emily! She suddenly said: I can't eat another mouthful, and she put her head down on the table and she cried. (She starts toward her seat in the church, but turns back and adds) Oh, I've got to say it: you know, there's something downright cruel about sending our girls out into marriage this way. I hope some of her girl friends have told her a thing or two. It's cruel, I know, but I couldn't bring myself to say anything. I went into it blind as a bat myself. The whole world's wrong, that's what's the matter. There they come. (She hurries to her place in the pew......)......

That's it...I have to close this old book now, I'm allergic to these old pages...sigh.

Very few plays put their scripts online for copyright reasons. I know the monologue you speak of, and it is fairly famous. Try your local library or a book store that has books of monologues or the play itself.
