Try a couple treatments with a good septic tank help like Rid-X. Also check to see if things like toilets and sinks are draining smoothly and not gurgling and stuff. If your sinks gurgle when you flush or other strange things happen your line may be partly plugged (try a drain opener) or your vent may be plugged (pipe coming out the roof) One last thing is a loose vent pipe in the basement or walls that is allowing gas to escape indoors.

Are you sure it's from the sewer line? You should try to find the location of the offending smell so you can determine what needs to be done.

if it is from the sewer line....call a pro....you don't want to mess with that stuff yourself...these lines can take a great deal of work....just to even dig down to them....a pro will have all the tools and equipment to get in done in about half the time you could....I like to fix things myself also....but sometimes it is just worth the extra money to have it done and they can do it in half the time.

I would call someone out because that is a smelly and messy job and you don`t want to do it yourself.... Have you checked your garbage disposal..If its that cut up lemons and put them in the garbage disposal and run your water also you could use oranges, bleach and do it the same ways as the above..LOL
