Who know, with the Portis injury weighing heavy, you might just get lucky. Probably not, but you never know. I'd go with two solid backs. LaMont Jordan will probably still be available and maybe Rudi Johnson. You'd be okay with them. You could take a Jordan or Johnson then follow it up with a premier WR like Steve Smith. You won't know till you see what happens.

I had the same pick in a couple of my drafts. Here are a couple of scenarios.
1) pick Peyton Manning if available. He has been the most consist ant QB for years and also the most durable. You know you have a reliable QB that is poised for a great year. (even without edge) Only pick him this high if your league awards points for Qbs throwing 25 yards or less per point.
2) Pick a top Receiver like Steve smith. When Carolina added Keyshawn they assured that smith wouldn't see as many triple teams as he did last year. Although he may not get as many catches this year, he still Should have at least 1200 years receiving and double digit touchdowns.
Make sure though that if your first round pick is not a rb, your next 2 picks should be. You need 2 rbs within the first 3 rounds.
Hope this helps.

9th is probably the worst spot in the draft. You may have a shot at Peyton - but do not take a WR here. I'd go RB (you're probably looking at Rudi Johnson or Lamont Jordan here.
Your 2nd pick is only 7 more spots away, and you'll be able to grab a top-5 WR with that pick, unless people are foolish enough to leave a tier-1 RB still out there.(Ronnie Brown, Willis McGahee).
The way the talent is distributed this year, I'd probably go RB-WR-RB with your first 3 picks. You could go RB-RB-WR depending who's out there. But make sure you get 2 RB w/ your first 3 picks.

Personally it depends on your league, but I would still recommend going after the next back available since in 6 more picks it will be your turn going back up in the second round you should get a decend QB or even WR.

ALWAYS take a runningback first round. Look for a Lamont Jordan or a Ronnie Brown. In the second round take Peyton Manning if he's available. If not don't take a WR. WRs are incosistent in play and don't give you nearly as many points. So take a runningback again if there's no Peyton around

u must take rb's 1st 2 picks -- after peyton manning all other qb's are pretty much the same - take the best 2 rbs at first pick and then go with wr's--do not take a kicker or defense early- concentrate on rb's and wr's

Obviously no one can know who will be there...but if Payton is...you would still have the same caliber RB there at your 2nd round pick than you would at your 1st and personally I wouldn't take the gamble on missing out on Payton. Worst case if you didn't like any of the RB's at your 2nd pick...you could get a top notch WR...but I highly recommend sticking with a RB with one of your 1st two picks!

Most people are already in a league, and I don't know any that has one starting today for the game tonight. Doesn't give one much time to do the draft and select your lineup, not to mention shift your roster around and grab free agents and whatnot. Good luck though.

Pick Rudi Johnson or Lamont Jordan for your first round pick then when it comes back for the second got with Steve Smith or Santana Moss. I got Rudi Johnson in the first round Steve Smith in the second then Santana moss in the third. You can get Julius Jones or Willis McGahee in the forth round.
