It just up and quit reading, it won't open up or close and my pc doesn't recognise that something is even there

it is my cd\dvd drive that quit working, I push the button to open it and no lights flash no noise nothing happenes.
I put a pin in the little hole to open it up and make sure nothing was stuck inside, but other than that it doesn't do a thing

*IF* you're talking about a CD or DVD drive, it may be bad.

I'd suggest opening the computer and make SURE the ribbon cable and power cable are connected well.

BTW, *IF* the drive's light blinks on startup or when you attempt to open it, that tells you the power cable is connected, but still doesn't tell you if the ribbon cable is connected properly......

are you talking about a cd/dvd-rom or the floppy disk drive? the cd-rom may just need to be cleaned. buy a kit at target. it's like $5.

Could be a number of reasons, your best bet would be to consult a PC Technician who can take a physical look at it.

Do you hear clicking noise from the disk drive?

I hope you have backup of this drive.

If the data is very important, you can try www.ontrack.com for data recovery service.

Sometimes rebooting works... if it doesn't, then you're gonna have to save up for a new drive.....
