I guess some of you are having a hard time understanding that war can solve problems, and is inevitable at times.

Yes, war did solve naziism. Just because their are people who still believe in it, does not mean it is the threat it used to be.

Yes, the cold war did end communism in Russia, therefore 'solved' it there. just because communism is still in areas, does not mean it hasn't been fixed somewhere.

Yes, the War in Iraq has solved fascism. Saddam is no longer in power. He can no longer murder people for not having his views. His son can no longer rape women on their wedding day. His regime can no longer run torture and rape rooms.

Yes, the war in afghanastan/ Iraq has solved terrorism. Bringing the fight to them, instead of allowing them to attack us is the solution.

When will you people learn, that war is a necessary evil against things that are more evil than war itself.

You said it. War cures all of the isms. No lasting peace has ever been attained by negotiation. In the eyes of our terrorist friends, negotiators are weak.

Nothing.Though you can argue it has solved both nazism and fascism(which is true) you have to remember at what price. It has not solved communism and it has only perpetuated terrorism. Communism is not something that needs to be solved, though it is always associated with fascism, the two concepts really have nothing in common. All communist countries have been dictatorships but that is not to say that there couldn't be a communistic democracy. Most importantly terrorism can never be solved through war. Terrorism is something that is created through hatred for western culture, and through desperation for a better life which is promised in radical Islam. By destroying peoples homes, killing innocents, and destroying peoples hopes, you are doing nothing but giving terrorist organizations more weapons for recruitment. If we fought the war on terror by trying to give people something to live for, you would see a much better result and a much lesser terrorist threat. There is no conflict that has occured in the worlds history that has been nessecary. Even those that have been considered "successful" could have been prevented. India gained their independence from the same Britian without firing a bullet. Had Serbia taken different means of gaining their independence there would not have been a First World War and therefore no Second World War. The benefits of the Civil War (the end of slavery and the preservation of the Union) could have been accomplished through legislation and non violence. In conclusion war can create positive change but never anything that couldn't have been changed through non violence.

AS a fact it did not even solve anything to those mentioned and other since the wars they created or shared or guided never met their expectations. I cannot see a liaison between nazism, fascism communism and what you called terrorism because all those are politicalideologies and thinkings whereas terrorism has nothing to do with that. It just creates fear and uncertainity in the minds and souls but does not have a political objective, it might be a tool used for a purpose and every terroristic act has relation with the one it is intended for nothing global as those.

War never solved any of the isms. They all still exist.

War solves very limited, specific problems.

WWII solved the problem of Hitler (of course, one could argue that Hitler's invasions were the root of WWII. Our response to Hitler's wars solved the problem of Hitler's wars - WWII didn't solve Hitler.)

The first Gulf War solved the problem of Hussein's invasion of Kuwait (with the same caveat as above).

The Agfanistan invasion disrupted Al-Qaeda operations even though it didn't provide a 'solution' to the problem (same as above).

Most of the time, the only good reason for fighting a war is in response to someone else's aggression.

One of the few wars where initiating the war solved anything was the American revolution. It freed us from a government that couldn't effectively manage affairs when it took four months to take a problem to England and bring back the resolution.

Nothing. I have taken a nice part of a song created by the Police which goes, "There's no such thing as a winnable war, It's a lie we don't believe anymore...". In my own interpretation, whenever there is a loss of life, let it be on the "good" or "bad" side, the war has not been won. Sadly, all wars have casualties. Therefore, there's no such thing as winning a war.

The only thing that War has ever really solved is overpopulation, with the possible exception of WWII.

Wars are almost always about religion or economics. Read a great book about the truth of American history: Lies My Teacher Told Me by Loewen

No war has ever produced a good outcome. Lincoln wouldn't have waged war on the south to end slavery. It of course looks good on paper, especially on the paper the history books consist of. His war was about the introduction of a central banking system, which ultimately failed until the Paul M. Warburg / Nelson Aldrich conspiracy brought us the "blessings" of the current central bank (and no, there is nothing federal about it). But i digress...

Bottom line is: No war has ever brought on something good. Not the first nor the second world war. Not Korea, not Vietnam. Not Afghanistan nor Iraq.
The only thing that war creates is universal suffering.

um, in what sense do you mean if not against whats on your list. It never solved communism, communism solved itself because it doesn't work. War is one of the leading, if not at the top, causes for technological and medical advancement ever. It creates social and cultural changes, and enhances the tools we use everyday to expand and even survive.

Hmm...seems to me that nazism, fascism, communism, and terrorism are still prevelent! Solved? I don't think so. Oh! Is this like Bush saying "Mission Accomplished"? I get it now. That's funny.

terrorism is growing due to war. communism is now thought to be the big bad boy of government when it could actually work - its fairer than a democracy for a start.

war will solve nothing when will people realise that the answer isnt at the end of a gun.
