I absolutely agree! Horrible company.
I also call them The Evil Empire. I never stepped foot inside a WM, until I started RVing. They make a point of welcoming RVers to stay the night, free & safe. Sam Walton was an RVer & said he would fee personally responsible if his store lot was empty & there was a traffic accident nearby because someone was tired & he didn't let them use his lot. I can't not support someone who shows me a kindness. But, I only shop there while I'm in the RV & only for things to use in the RV.
I have Microsoft Streets & trips. There are many sources of lists of walmart stores in txt format that can be imported into MSS&T. I find it amusing that if the name walmart is in the address, the s/w can't find it. if I take out walmart, it find it just fine. I've always said that it's one Evil Empire battleing w/ another!

I only shop Target or elsewhere. I live in a small town, and where WalMart is, I avoid it!

Before we got a Target here, I drove 30 minutes into another town just to shop Target.

It's a moot point. If it weren't Walmart it would just be someone else. Stores come, grow big and then go when the next giant chain comes along. It's been this way since people started setting up little stands to sell their goods. One stand got bigger and cheaper than the next, then another came along even bigger and cheaper etc. etc. etc. It's called economic growth. Everything eventually comes full circle tho. Just gotta have patience.

I am most definitely not a communist. Though I am a single mother with very little money, so I shop at wal-mart because they are affordable. If you have a problem with it, open up your own chain of stores people can afford.

Wal Mart is the world's LARGEST retailer with over 315 BILLION DOLLARS in gross revenue projected for 2006. If you consider how many small businesses have been crushed by the price fixing of this retail giant then you have defined evil.

The REAL answer is never to shop at Wal Mart, simple. I am proud to say that I never have and never will.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS, even if it costs a few cents more. You do it for gas so why not...

Pretty much the only place near where I live is a Wal*Mart - - so we do not really have a choice on where to shop, but I agree - they are not the best company - especially if you work there!

Interesting commentary on the effects of Wal*Mart (and other big box stores).

Glad to say that with the exception of needing a car battery at 1am on the way home from a friend's house, we haven't shopped Wal*Mart since March.
