Hey Jen here is what I do. First if I was invited to speak, then they appearently think I know what I am talking about and value my opinion so I must be good, Second if I called the meeting or came up with the subject then I am the expert and I know what I am talking about. So either way since I know what I am talking about I am the expert and my audience will be glad to hear what I have to say.
Yeah I know its B.S. and no it doesn't work, or maybe it does!
As long as no one is throwing rotten eggs or other food stuff your are doing well just roll with it. Try making the audience laugh at you, once you get used to it, you can do anything.

I get really warm and know I turn red. I just be sure I'm wearing clothing I would normally be too cold in when I'm going to have to speak so it's less obvious. Also, I usually hold my hands together if I don't have anything else to hold to keep myself from shaking. Practice talking in situations that take you a little bit out of your comfort zone (casual large groups) and pretend you're not nervous. Fake it till you make it, or at least until it's a little easier.

I've been there! When I was a teenager this was a major problem. Remember that what you are fearing is your own fear. You're probably not afraid of speaking, you are afraid of what happens to your body when you speak in front of a crowd. The best thing for me is taking very long slow breaths before you get up to speak. Try to stand behind a podium so you can hold it to prevent shaking. Talk slowly to prevent stuttering.

Public speaking is like, the number one fear of Americans. Really. So don't worry about being nervous. Instead, take a class about public speaking and get practice - honestly, it gets better the more times you do it. With that in mind, when you're up in front of people, make sure you are breathing and speaking at a steady, slow, rate.

yeah me too! It all is perfect in my head...then I get up there and I forget how to talk! What I find that mainly makes my presentation poor is using note cards. If I use them I tend to focus more on doing a mental check list of what I've said. However, if I don't use a notecard and it's a topic I feel well-informed about or am interested in...I can just get up there and talk...cause it would more natural...
example: I had an educational psyc course. My major is Spanish so we were trying to relate this education course to each major. In a presentation I did....I stuttered and sweated out the part that had to do with psyc..but when I related it to Spanish...I felt natural and it had a good flow to it

Normally practice is the best option, but if that hasn't worked, I'd suggest learning yoga breathing techniques or something like it. Another great option is practicing in front of a group of friends. That way, you'll be speaking in front of a crowd but one that loves you.

if you have probles after you practice you can try looking at objects in your room or whereever you are. like if you are in a classroom look t the walls or something that way you can read your speech without really thinking about the people.

lol little advice here about public speaking. When you get up to speak try and see those sitting listerning to you as if they where naked it works
