It's different for every individual. It took me a great deal of time after my divorce, but partly because I wanted to make a better life for myself and for my daughter. I was less concerned with dating, and relationships, and more focused on building a home, in a stable neighborhood, with a good school district, etc... Here I am more than two years out of my marriage, and I haven't had a serious girlfriend since we were separated - more than a year before our divorce! And I'm ok with it! That doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed female companionship, that doesn't mean I don't go out and have fun. I am extremely cautious about the people I invite into my world now, knowing it not only would affect me, but my daughter as well. Take it slow, nice and easy. I'm not sure about you, but I have made my divorce a learning experience. And while I may not definitively know what I DO want in my next relationship, I have certainly learned several things that I definitely do NOT want. Good luck to you!

There are so many factors to consider, but it is good that you are looking on instead of looking back. It will take longer if he left you. Even longer if he left you for somebody else. You have to rebuild your self esteem regardless of who left who though. In general, getting divorced makes you feel like a failure in life. When you can get over that thought, you are on your way. When you are comfortable out in public, that is another step forward. In the end, you will never fully get over the divorce. You will move on within the year though. It will feel slow in happening while you are going through it, but stay persistent!

That depends on you. How long do you want to mull over the divorce. If you make up in your mind today right this minute to move, then you can. No one said it would be easy but possible.

This type of question would have to be answered on an individual basis, because it has a lot to do with the cause of divorce & where it occurred. People react to situations differently so the time would be different in their reactions.

I was over mine immediately but my ex still isnt over it so it depends on You and what caused the divorce. She got violent with me so it was easy to say good bye. On her side, she never wanted the divorce. I guess she wanted me to take the abuse.

that really depends, some people never recover, especially if they are still in love and were happy at the time. i know it still hurts me when i think about it but life doesn't stop because you are hurting
